Entire family contracts COVID. Eric and Alex can’t get out of bed. Kids watch shows and eat cereal for dinner. After recovering, we find our favorite spots: French bakery, a pizza place with a wood oven in the shape of an octopus, the gorgeous, clear freshwater spring at Playa Rincon. Pan de coco sold on the beach. We run into old friends from New York from ten years ago. Happy to encounter fruits and vegetables again. Tupperware truck. Leon and Margot are learning some Spanish. Stay in the stunning Zona Colonial in Santo Domingo. Music everywhere. Dancing. Plazas full of people and pigeons. Teenagers playing basketball day and night. Lush courtyards. Meet lead musician from Grupo Bonye. Flowers blooming. Last stop on our Caribbean trip. Return to the United States with many memories.
